You can mess up many things in the new Media Center if you tinker or click on things within these menus! Press the right directional button on your remote and press up to get to the Select Menu Item section. The Up and Down arrows at the top right of the screen will cycle through the different sections. Cycle to the section that you want to change an addon shortcut in.

Scroll down and click on the addon that you want to replace with a different addon and click on it. A pop up will appear. This pop up gives you the option to pick what kind of addon you want to replace the original one with. So if you are replacing a video addon with another video addon, you would click on Video add-ons.

Now click on the addon that you want to show as a shortcut. In this example we are going to add Bob Unleashed as a shortcut. Once you click on the addon a pop up will appear. If you want to keep the addon display name simply click on Done. You can the name that will display under the addon shortcut by deleting the text and adding whatever you want to call it.

In this example we are changing it to SkystreamTV. Once you have added the name click on done. Back out of the previous pages by pressing the back button on your remote until you reach the home screen. Scroll over to the section where you changed the addon shortcut and you will now see the addon and new name that you added. You have just changed an addon shortcut in the new Media Center!

Pat yourself on the back, You are Awesome!!! As some of you noticed, the sounds that used to be heard when you were scrolling up and down, selected something or pressed the back button are no longer there.

We removed them as we felt it was more polished and refined. However we know that some users like this feature so we created this article to show users how to get them back. We are also going to show you how you can install different versions of these sounds from other skins. You can mess up the Media Center and have to do a fresh install. Follow the instructions exactly and you will be good to go. From the home screen, scroll over to System and then press the down button and scroll over to Settings.

Click on Settings. You have just enabled the system sounds in the new Media Center. If you would like to try some other sounds to see if you like them better than the default ones, keep reading.

Press the back button until you get to the screen shown below. Scroll down to Appearance and click on it. It should default to the Skin section. If not, scroll up to the Skin section and press the right directional button. Then scroll down to GUI Sounds and click on it.

Yours will only have the Confluence UI Sounds by default. Scroll to the right and click on Get More. A pop up will appear with the different sounds from different skins that you can try. There is no preview for these sounds, so you will need to install them before you can hear them and see if you like them. Click on the sound package you would like to try. It will install and revert back to the previous screen. The new sounds will be live and you can try them to see if you like them.

Personally we like it silent. But that is a personal preference. Here is a picture of what the settings screen will look like after you have installed a new sound package. When looking around for movies to watch, many times you want to see the trailer to see if it is a movie that you want to watch. In the past our users would need to go to youtube or search for the trailer on a different device. Here is how to do it! Please keep in mind that a trailer may not be available for all titles. If nothing plays when you click on the Movie Reel icon, there is no trailer available. There is no fix for this. When you have a movie highlighted Blue Highlight effect, press the right directional pad button twice, Then the left directional pad button twice.

So right button 2 times, left button 2 times. You will most likely get a pop up asking if you want to Execute the Youtube setup wizard. Click on NO. That is it.

The trailer will begin to play shortly just as any other video content would within the media center. When you have a movie highlighted Blue Highlight effect, simply move the cursor to the Movie Reel icon and click on it. Note — You will need to move the cursor to the right so you do not highlight another title.

You also press the cursor button to disable the cursor and follow the instructions above. Open the Media Center, Scroll over to the System section.

Click down and then left to highlight settings. Click on settings. Scroll down to acceleration. Press the right button on your direction pad. You have turned off that codec. Once you have turned off all 3 of these Codecs your screen will look like this.

Press the back button until you reach the Media Center home screen or navigate to the home icon at the bottom right side of the screen and click on it. Now try a stream and you will get both video and audio. So we put this article together to give you the step by step instructions. In the Media Center scroll over to System, press the down button and then the right button to get to Skin Settings. Click on it. You will be brought to this screen.

Press the right directional button once. The down arrow next to Global skin options will turn black. Click on it once. You will now see this screen. Click the down button on your remote until Home top left info area is highlighted.

Click the Back button on your remote once. System will be highlighted. Press the down button once and the left button to highlight Settings. Click down to Location 1 and click on it. Only Location 1 works. If you enter a location into any other section it will not work.

Multiple locations do not work either. A pop up screen will appear. Use your remote to type in the city that you live in. Highlight the Done button and click on it. Highlight the correct location and click on it. You will now see the weather in the top left corner of the screen. It may take up to a minute to display the correct weather based on your internet speed and the servers speed on the other end. The weather information will overlap the Skystream logo when you are in the Movies or TV Shows sections.

The logo is in a different spot in these two background images so that it will not be cut off by the widgets. We do not plan to change this. Please do not ask us to change this. Note — When reopening the Media Center the weather may take up to a minute or more depending on your internet speed, if Addons are updating or the server speed on the other end that is providing the data.

We get lots of phone calls each and every day. Sometimes we get calls that are more about home networks, Routers and Modems, then our Skystream units. Many of these customers are experiencing slow Wi-Fi speeds on not only their Skystream units, but most of the devices in their house. What most people do not realize is that in most cases you can move your router anywhere in your house that has a coax connection Screw on Connection.

In the majority of houses the internet or cable signal that is provided to your house from the cable company comes in one main spot and it then is split to all of the other rooms via coax cables.

What this means is that you can simply unplug your router, Unscrew the coax connection, move the router to a more centralized part of the house and connect it to that rooms coax connection. In most cases once the coax connection is connected and the router has been plugged in, the router will cycle and then connect to the internet. Voila, you now have your Wi-Fi signal in a more centralized location and will have a more solid connection on your devices.

As all houses are different in design and layout we cannot tell anyone exactly where the best place to keep your router. But in general terms the ideal spot for a router is in a centralized part of the house. For many houses this will be in a living room or family room. Another way you can help figure out where the best spot would be, is to ask where you use your Wi-Fi connected devices the most. In most cases this will be the living room where your TV is, which is very convenient if you are using one of our Skystream Android TV Boxes.

Another great perk to placing your router in the room where you watch TV is that you can now hopefully run an Ethernet cable directly from your router to your Skystream Streaming Media Player and get the most stable and fast internet connection possible.

So when he was installing your equipment, he most likely installed it near the first Coax connection outlet he saw. Unplug it, reconnect it in a centralized part of the house or family room and see if it connects to the internet.

But they have a ridiculous amount of beautiful 4K content from all over the world. From the beaches of Hawaii, to the skyscrapers in Dubai, Youtube has it in 4K. However some external hard drives draw too much power for the USB port to provide. This more often happens with large external hard drives of 1 Tb or bigger.
